Mightier than the sword
Welcome back for Term 3, for many families this term marks the end of their child’s secondary educational journey, for others, the journey continues. The achievements your child makes cannot be possible without one of mankind’s most humble inventions:
the pen.
A simple cartridge filled with ink can leave indelible marks upon the page and the world, it is the greatest tool you can give your child because with it, they can engage with the world around them, shape the world around, reimagine the world around, and leave a legacy that one can be proud of.
Ensuring your child has a pen ensures your child is ready to learn and ready to succeed.
This Term in English, our junior students are engaging in quality literature and unpacking what makes a great play through the study of Shakespearean drama, alternate perspectives in short stories, and honing their visual literacy skills. We are fortunate to send some of our HPGE students to a production of ‘Macbeth’ in mid-August and this will no doubt complement their understanding of what makes a great play.
For our senior students, their HSC Trials are complete and you should discuss with your child their results, understand that their results in English are pleasing and it is great to see the consistency across such a large cohort in their classrooms. Year 11 will approach their preliminary examinations in the coming weeks and I wish them luck.
From all of us in English,
Let's be ready to learn!
