It has been another very busy week in boarding.
The pool competition is well underway, with around 20 games already played, many of them very close.
In netball, our team had a narrow loss in the town competition on Tuesday evening. We have also had football and hockey training, as well as plenty of students making use of the Harvey town gym.
Kitchen
This past week, we welcomed back Greg Aiberti to the kitchen team. I am certain he will settle in easily, and we all know how accomplished he is in the kitchen. Welcome back, Greg!
Cleaning Incidents
Unfortunately, we have had some highly undesirable incidents occur in the student toilets in recent times. I spoke with our Boarders earlier this week and then addressed the entire student body yesterday at lunchtime.
Grace and her team have recently been required to remove spit from the walls, ceilings and floors in the gymnasium toilets. She has also had to deal with faeces on a toilet seat and a deliberately blocked toilet that was left over the weekend, a “delightful” way to start her Monday morning.
However, the most disturbing incident occurred on Monday morning this week. Vanessa was cleaning the toilets in the student classroom area when she reached over to grab a piece of paper towel to wipe the sink. Fortunately, she noticed a pin-up board pin that had been deliberately placed under the steel plug, pointing upwards. Had Vanessa not seen it, she could have seriously injured her hand.
This behaviour is appalling and I ask parents to please reiterate to their children the danger and seriousness of such actions.
What's Happening this Weekend
This weekend, we have only Day students on Dairy. We do this once per term, which allows us to venture a little further from the College without the usual weekend stock duty restrictions.
This time, we’re heading off for a tour of the Fremantle Prison, followed by a visit to the Fremantle Markets, and then back home in time for dinner. It should be a great weekend!
