Lemon Butter
After tasting a sample of delicious lemon butter made by some of the students, I suggested we needed something equally tasty to accompany it. Mia Fewster, Emma Usher, and Demi Treasure enjoyed an afternoon learning how to make pikelets this week. Funnily enough, Mr Dyson found his way to the kitchen for a taste test.
We managed to whip up over 60 pikelets to share with other students after school. The lemon butter made a beautiful topping. Well done to you all!
Loneliness Awareness Week
Despite being the most digitally connected generation, many young people report feeling socially disconnected, which is impacting on their health and wellbeing.
Loneliness Awareness Week Australia shines a light on this issue by sharing real moments that help young people connect. It invites all Australians to make moments matter—at home, work, school, online and in the community. Making friends or forming connections takes time and effort, but it often starts with a small moment: an awkward hello, a chance encounter, an act of kindness, a compliment, a shared experience or interest or even a funny story. These small but meaningful interactions matter. They spark conversation and help us feel seen and valued.
The following graphic sheds light on the real experience of loneliness for young people — what it feels like, what contributes to it and what enables connection. This is not a collection of statistics, but a reflection of real voices and real lives.
Take a look at some suggestions for ways you can make moments matter at home with your family.
