Week 7 Greeting

I hope this message finds you well. Over the past week, we have seen a significant number of student absences due to illness. We understand this can be a challenging time for families, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home to allow for proper rest and recovery, and to help prevent the spread of illness to others. We continue to encourage good hygiene practices at school, including regular handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing these habits at home.　２学期も７週目になりました。ここ数週間で体調不良による欠席者の数が激増しております。お子様が風邪やインフルエンザにかかっている場合は、ご家庭でしっかり休みを取れるようご協力をお願い致します。お子様自身の回復のみならず、ウイルスの感染を最小限に抑えられるよう、ご理解ご協力いただけますようお願い致します。

Bringing Personal Properties to School

A gentle reminder to families about personal belongings at school: we kindly ask that students do not bring toys, soccer balls, or other personal items from home. Our school provides plenty of resources and activities to keep students engaged throughout the day. Unfortunately, if personal items are lost or damaged, the school cannot be held responsible, and teachers will not be able to spend time searching for these items. To avoid disappointment and disruption, it’s best to leave personal belongings at home. For more details, please refer to our Personal Property Policy available on our school website. ご家庭から持ってくるアイテム（おもちゃやサッカーボールなどを含む）による問題がいくつか起こっております。生徒間での揉め事や紛失などを防ぐためにも、お子様がこのようなアイテムを学校に持ってこないようご協力を申し上げます。また、個人のアイテムがなくなったり、壊れたりした場合、学校側は責任を負いかねますのでご了承ください。また、本校のPersonal Property Policyに詳しい情報が記載されていますので、この機会にどうぞご確認ください。

This week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Year 1/2 classroom, where Kato Sensei led a fantastic learning activity combining Maths and Japanese. The students explored addition and subtraction through a fun shopping activity. They practiced adding the prices of items and then subtracting the total from a given amount of pretend money. Throughout the activity, students were encouraged to communicate in Japanese, with the option to ask questions or seek clarification in either Japanese or English. It was a wonderful example of bilingual education in action and a creative way to deepen mathematical understanding. Well done, Y1/2s—you should be very proud of your efforts! 先週、加藤先生の算数のクラスを訪問しました。足し算と引き算のスキルを使って、お買い物のアクティビティをしているところでした。買いたものの合計金額を足し算で計算した後、所持金からその金額を引き算して、お釣りを割り出す勉強をしていました。また、使い慣れた日本語でお買い物のやりとりをするように加藤先生が指示をしていました。わからないことを確認したり質問する場合には英語で話すことも許されており、バイリンガルの環境にいながらも、算数の勉強に集中できる、とてもバランスの良いレッスンでした。
