Child Safety and Wellbeing

A Child Safe School

Our school holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamentalresponsibility. Central to the mission of our Catholic school is an absolute commitment to fostering the dignity,self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enrichingenvironment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

A Child Safe Culture

By making a public commitment to child safety we are affirming our commitment to listen to and empower all children within our school.  We prioritise the safety of children and will not tolerate child abuse and harm.

We adhere to the Victorian Catholic Education Authority’s (VCEA) Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy includes the Code of Conduct that all staff, volunteers and visitors must sign to affirm their commitment to the standards of behaviour expected for our school community. These documents, and all our Child Safety Policies, can be viewed on our website: https://smjhorsham.catholic.edu.au/policies-reports/child-safety-policies/

We invite feedback on our school policies and procedures.  Our school Child Safety Officer is Mrs Lousie Chesterfield and Mrs Lisa Glatz. They can be contacted on 03 5382 3000 or by email – louisec@smjhorsham.catholic.edu.au / lglatz@smjhorsham.catholic.edu.au
