Unpacking Semester Reports

Have You Ever Wondered What the Effort and Behaviour Work Habits Mean on Your Child's Semester Report?

You open your child’s semester report and see those two boxes: Behaviour and Effort. You might be thinking, “Sure, they’re important… but what do they actually mean?”

Let us decode the language of the report card with the Behaviour and Effort Matrix - the guide our teachers use to recognise how your child engages with their learning beyond just their curriculum teacher judgements.

Attendance is a significant factor and is used to determine the maximum possible rating your child can receive for behaviour this semester. For example, if your child’s behaviour is deemed excellent but their attendance is only 88%, the maximum rating they can achieve is 'good.'  This is simply because every day at school counts!

The Behaviour and Effort indicators help paint a full picture of your child’s learning journey - because great learners aren’t just measured by academics!

Your child’s Semester Report will be available on Compass next week. Later in Term 3, you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, growth and next steps as part of our formal Parent Teacher Interviews.
