Here come the Holidays!

Wrapping up the Term

Wellbeing Wrap Up: Students Speak

Thinking Back, Looking Forward

In place of our regular Resilience Project Cards, we wanted to take a moment to explore Gratitude, Emotional Literacy and Mindfulness straight from some of our wonderful students. It is important to us at the College that we get a chance to hear from our students themselves - about what they enjoy, are grateful for and what makes them feel excited. Approximately 15 Grade 6-9 students were asked at random to write down their thoughts on the following prompts:

Something good or fun that has happened this term/semester

  • Culture Day (written down many, many times!)
  • Playing in sport competitions against other schools
  • Making oobleck in science class
  • Going to Year 5 Camp
  • Athletics Day
  • We get to wear our pyjama's to school next week

Something you're grateful for from this term/semester:

  • My class
  • Good classmates
  • I'm grateful for the supporting staff
  • My frinds
  • PE Class
  • Friends
  • Athletics Carnival
  • Making new friends
  • Camp
  • Stem and Science

Something you're looking forward to in Term 3 + 4

  • Year 9 Graduation
  • More activities as a whole year level
  • African Classes
  • Camp (written 7 more times!)
  • Science fair
  • Basketball Court Opening
  • Year 6 Graduation
  • New electives
  • School Holidays
  • My Family vacation

There have been some wonderful moments during Semester One, and there will be so much to look forward to once we come back from holidays! Be sure to frequently check our 'What's On' page in the newsletter for information on any of our upcoming events and opportunities - more detailed information to come in Term 3!

Ice Cube Painting

Turn your freezer into an art station!

You’ll need:

  • Ice cube tray
  • Water
  • Food colouring or watered-down paint
  • Popsicle sticks or toothpicks

Steps:

  1. Fill an ice cube tray with coloured water or paint
  2. Add a stick to each cube and freeze
  3. Once frozen, pop them out and “paint” with the melting colours on paper!

If you'd like to get more creative, you can paint on some old textiles such as pillow cases or tea towels.

Stay safe and enjoy your break, we can't wait to see you back to school on the 21st of July to kick off Term 3!
