3/4 Learning News

What's happening in Year 3/4 space?

Dear Families,

It’s been another busy and exciting fortnight in the 3/4 classroom!

Literacy

In Literacy, we’ve been diving into suffixes, focusing on -s, -y, and -ly. Students have explored how these suffixes change the meaning of words and help us become more descriptive writers. We've also been working on expanding our sentences by upgrading our verbs and adding adjectives and adverbs that tell us how, when, or where something happens. It’s been wonderful to see the creativity and confidence growing in everyone’s writing!

Mathematics

Our focus in Maths has been all about length. Students have been busy predicting, estimating, comparing, and ordering objects by length using both informal and formal units. We’ve also started exploring metric units such as millimetres, centimetres, and metres, and applying them in real-world contexts.

Excursion Fun

Last Thursday, we had a fantastic excursion to St Luke’s where we enjoyed a performance of King Arthur by the Alpha Show. The students were thoroughly entertained and inspired by the storytelling and drama. We then visited SAM (Shepparton Art Museum), where we explored the gallery and participated in an art workshop. It was a creative and thought-provoking experience that allowed students to express themselves artistically.

Reconciliation Week

We were proud to lead the school in our Reconciliation Week prayer gathering last Friday. Our class shared their learning about the history of the land rights movement in Australia, reflecting on the importance of reconciliation and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to share their knowledge and show leadership within our school community.

We’re looking forward to more learning adventures ahead!
