Principal's News

Updates from Miss Maree

 Dear Families,

I must begin this newsletter with acknowledging the absolutely amazing staff we have here at St Joseph's. In the past few weeks there have been camps, excursions, wonderful whole school provocations and learnings taking place that bring out the best in our students. Our staff work tirelessly to know our students/learners and create meaningful and engaging activities. A special mention must also go to your children who do their best all the times.

Perhaps these are just some of the reasons why families are choosing St Joseph's for their child's education. We had a terrific Open Day with both sessions well attended. Thanks to the wonderful leaders who led tours and provided interested families with a students perspective of what it's like being a student at our school.

Teachers are busy writing reports at the moment that will be available the last week of term via PAM. Parents who have PSG's have been notified their time and date. If you are unable to make your meeting please contact the school as soon as you know to arrange another time.

At St Joseph's we are always community minded and love having visits or visiting other learning centres. Little Joey's Outdoor Playgroup has been a great success since it began last year and has been a wonderful advertisement for our school. Beginning this week a staff member and 4 students will visit Nagambie Preschool on a Thursday afternoon to begin making connections with the 3 and 4 year old students and staff. We are also very lucky to have the younger children from long day care visit our school for a story and play time. This week Sam read a story to them and next visit Finley and Huda will be the presenters - another great way of giving our younger students an opportunity to be leaders. Next term we will visit Mackillop ELC in their new building to further develop our connections with the children.

In the next half of the year we have two major events occurring that will certainly be exciting! Our School Community Market Day will take place on Sunday 19th October. This will be the second time we have put this event on - and all hands on deck will be needed to ensure its success. The last school market raised over $8000 which went straight to your child/rens camps, excursions and sporting opportunities as well as literacy and numeracy resources for the classrooms. Keep a look out for notices around this event and how you might be able to help.

The second event is our School Mooosical - does that give you a hint what the main characters might be? Stay tuned for dates and more information soon.

If you have time before or after school please come into the school foyer to check out the amazing work the students have been doing this past term in their Inquiry/Community Project time. Their wonderings, ideas and comments around Ngurra - Telling Stories through Art are just fabulous

Uniting Care have begun offering pupil free days and holiday programs now that they are in a space which allows for this to occur. If you are interested in using this service I recommend you get onto their website and register (as this sometimes can take some time to arrange). Have a look at their page as part of this newsletter. Child care subsidy is available.

I'm heading off for more surgery - my right eye this time, so I will see you in about 4 weeks (if I can stay away for that long). The wonderful and amazing Ebony will be in charge in my absence. Please don't hesitate to contact the office or Ebony if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Take care and stay safe,

Maree
