Principal News

Congratulations to our Hands on Learning (HoL) Team.

Brenda and Georgia and our extremely talented student team have just completed an incredible community project and we are so very proud of them all. They have been working incredibly hard this term to build wicking planters for the Chelsea community.

The skills required for this task were significant and I am proud of their commitment and collaboration as well as their significant contribution to the community. For more information please go to the Student Engagement & Wellbeing page in this newsletter. Great work HoL Team!

Bittern Primary School Vision & Values

As you are aware, we have been collaborating with the school community to develop a more current vision and values for our school.

This included student and parent/carer workshops, discussion with school council and many sessions with our staff. Our school vision and values was a major agenda item on our curriculum day last Tuesday.

Presenting our new school Vision Statement!

At Bittern Primary School children are at the heart of everything we do. Respect is shown through kindness, inclusivity, and by creating a safe and supportive learning environment where everyone feels valued.  We aim to Achieve excellence by encouraging resilience, and a belief that every child of every ability can thrive. We Inspire one another through curiosity and creativity. We Connect through meaningful relationships and shared learning.

Presenting our new School Values!

RESPECT  ACHIEVE  INSPIRE                      CONNECT

We will be working with our students to develop images/symbols that relate to these values.  The work really begins now, as we actively teach these values through our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. Using this framework our next task is to work with the students to build a positive behaviour matrix with these values at the core. Both positive behaviours and our school values will be taught and recognised in every learning setting and in our school yard.

We are very excited to be at this point with this initiative and eager to start embedding our vision and values at BPS.

Parents have a role to play in SWPBS and there will be more information sent out to you next term.

PYJAMA DAY is coming!

To celebrate the chilly weather, we're inviting all students to join us for a cosy Pyjama Day! Come to school in your favourite pyjamas on Tuesday 1st July, and don’t forget to bring a snuggle toy, a good book, and your warmest smile.

On this day we will be having some book activities in the BER in periods 3 & 4 and invite students to share a hot chocolate together.

Students can wear their slippers indoors, however they must bring outdoor shoes for recess and lunch time.

We cannot wait to see you in your brightest and cosiest pyjamas on Tuesday July 1st.
