On the 6th of May, our Junior Girls AFL represented at the College Ovals in Sale. With the guidance of teacher/coach Ms.Tancred, the girls showcased some great natural skills of the game and challenged competing schools. Best on the day were, Imlay Pickalla, Lily Appleton, Elaska Heywood, Jewel MacFarlane, Gemma Derix, Shayla Walsh. Overall, all the girls contributed and showed great teamwork and support, well done.
On the 30th of May, we had 4 teams attend Intermediate and Senior netball. The Intermediate girls had a great start leading against Catholic College before resulting in a tied match. Unfortunately, even with wins over Kurnai and Yarram, they missed out on the final by a small percentage. Catholic College went on to beat Lavalla. Xanthe Wade and Brielle Stephens were strong in the Mid Court, Maddie Winter proved to be a key player with her height and accurate shooting, Dakota Stone and Piper O’Keefe challenged players in defence.
The Senior girls had successful wins over Traralgon College and Yarram, they progressed through to final, but Lavalla was too good on the day. All girls played well and showed great teamwork.
Our Senior boys won their first game against Sale College, Kev Rondon was strong as the Centre player, Brayden Meli showed great shooting skills and Ned Conway was a force in defence. They went down to a knowledgeable Traralgon College.
The Intermediate boys were outstanding with confident wins over Kurnai, Sale College, Yarram and Traralgon. Lincoln Patmore was a great addition to the team that made it through last year, his height and athleticism were key contributes. Campbell Hanna and Ben Tews also shot well. Kobe Parsons controlled the midcourt as Centre with his great knowledge of the sport. He was supported by Rusty Krouwer, Isaac Mills, Hunter Appleton and Cade Richards. Charlie Coates and Cooper Strickland had strong defence, with a high ability to read the play and successful intercept the ball. Congratulations to the boys making through to the Gippsland Round.
