Student Leadership

Maffra Secondary College showed its true colours—especially pink—during a fun-filled and inspiring event to support the World’s Greatest Shave, raising an impressive $4800 for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The fundraising effort was led by the enthusiastic Maffra SC Student Leadership Team and participants Alannah, Alex, James, Mitch, Kye, Mr Raine and Mr Shefford, who rallied students and staff in the weeks leading up to the big day. Their dedication and community spirit paid off, with donations pouring in to help fight blood cancer.

The school came alive on the day of the event with a casual dress day, where students and staff ditched uniforms for a gold coin donation. At lunchtime, excitement reached its peak in the school gym, where the main event—the Big Shave—took place.

Cheers and applause echoed through the gym as brave volunteers stepped up to shave their heads in solidarity with those living with cancer. One of the most anticipated moments was Mr Raine’s colour reveal—as promised, he unveiled his freshly dyed bright pink hair, as voted by students, to the delight of the crowd.

"It’s a small way we can show our support for those going through the toughest times," said one of the organisers. “We’re so proud of how the school came together to support a cause that means so much.”

Congratulations to everyone involved!
