School Council

School Council wrap May 2025

School Council met on the 19th of May. The mood was somber as we reflected on the recent tragic death of a student and parent and serious injuries inflicted on another student and parent. Our thoughts are with all students, staff and families of the school at this difficult time.

It is a time to show kindness to others as we are again reminded of how precious life is, especially for young people, and to be grateful for the love we have in our families and this community.

Nat Bedggood recently decided to stand down from school council. She made a positive and honest contribution and she will be greatly missed. Thank you Nat. Nat’s standing down has created a vacancy for a parent to fill. The time commitment is not huge with eight two hour meetings per year, currently held at 5.30 pm twice a term on Monday nights. Ok, there is a bit of reading and the occasional sub committee meeting but they not too arduous. If interested at all please give me a call on 0427 308 589 for full details.

The main discussion topic at school council this month was the upcoming formation of a new four year strategic plan for the school. The process begins with an open discussion night early June. The current school strategic plan finishes this year and there is much to celebrate with many of the goals set being achieved a year early, even ones that the reviewer thought were impossibly optimistic. It is a credit to all the staff, students and parents. While we have seen much success and growth, there is still work to be done and we are excited about the next 4 years ahead.

The formation of the new strategic plan is a process by which the school community sets goals for a whole range of things from student wellbeing to academic results and many things in between. It is a very rigorous process and the good news is that everyone in the school community can get involved.
