From the Leadership Team

Some great achievements...
During the past 18 months, our entire staff have participated in 4 days training where we have learnt about positive ways to engage our students in their learning and support their emotional regulation through a trauma informed lense. Students have learnt about what it means to be ready to learn and participated each day in a Morning Circle to set everyone up for the day, amongst many other things. As mentioned in the last newsletter, Berry Street recorded our story of impact and this has now been published on their website and shared on their Facebook page. We are very proud of the commitment of our staff and the way our students are developing their thinking and actions towards working together and engaging in learning.
We have celebrated the achievements of some of our senior students in the past newsletters and their participation in sporting and arts programs.
In week 8, Alex (V20) participated in the State SAPSASA Netball Championships after
being selected to represent the Salisbury East district. Alex and her team played really well throughout the carnival, showing lots of improvement, especially around teamwork. They were proud of their win on the last day and never gave up in any game, playing to the last second each time.
We would also like to congratulate Anika (V16) for her successful audition as a Festival of Music Choreography Leader. Anika will undertake this role during one of the concerts later next term and will lead the choir that night in their movement and dancing as they sing.
Congratulations to both Alex and Anika and the other students who tried out for SAPSASA teams and auditioned for Festival of Music roles. It takes lots of courage to do this and we are proud of you all.
BREAKING NEWS.... Our Junior Choir also needs to be congratulated as they have been selected as 1 of only 8 schools to perform the National Anthem using signing at the Festival of Music concerts this year. They will also perform a foyer concert one night prior to the main choir performance. We are very proud of them and Ms Mentha and look forward to seeing them perform.
Farewell Paige
Last week we farewelled Paige Colwell who has been a staff member at Para Vista since 2012. Paige is currently on maternity leave but is moving on to a new challenge. In her time at our school, she taught mostly in Reception classes with many of our students recalling some of the great learning they did with Paige. Students were able to share some of these memories with her at an assembly and presented her with a small gift. We wish Paige all the best at her new school and thank her for the positive influence she has had on the lives and learning of many of our students.
