Welcome to Our New Teaching Assistants!
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of five exceptional teaching assistants who will be joining the Trafalgar Primary School team starting August 5th. Please join us in welcoming Sophie Bentley, Emma Semaan, Sarah Nash, Christeena Smalley, and Michelle Lintzeris. Each brings unique strengths and a wealth of experience to our school, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will have as they support our Junior School students.
In other exciting news, our Junior School students have settled wonderfully into their new classrooms and with their new classmates following the restructure at the end of Term 2. The transitions have gone smoothly, and the children are thriving in their new learning environments. This stability is something we aim to maintain.
Given the successful adaptation of our students and the need for consistency, we have decided to keep the current class arrangements in place for the foreseeable future. This decision comes as we welcome back Tanya Laidlaw from leave. While it's great to have Tanya back, we recognise the ongoing challenges posed by staffing shortages, particularly in filling a maternity leave position in Year 1/2. We understand and share parents' concerns about potential disruptions from further class changes. Therefore, we are committed to maintaining the current setup to ensure that our students have a stable and consistent learning environment.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to navigate these challenges together. Here's to a fantastic start with our new team members and a continued successful year at Trafalgar Primary School!
School Camps
This week, the Principal Team had the pleasure of joining our Grade 5/6 students on an unforgettable camp to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. Despite the cold and windy weather, we were fortunate to avoid the rain and fully immerse ourselves in the rich history of Victoria's early colonial period and the excitement of the Gold Rush era.
Our students had a fantastic time exploring the meticulously recreated goldfields, panning for gold, and learning about the lives of the early settlers. From witnessing the impressive gold pour to visiting the underground mines, the camp provided a hands-on history lesson that brought the past to life.
A special highlight was the opportunity for students to dress in period costumes and experience a school day from the 1850s. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were a joy to see, and it was a fantastic opportunity for all involved to appreciate the challenges and adventures of life on the goldfields.
Next week, the Principal Team will head off to Mill Valley Ranch with our Grade 3/4 students. We look forward to sharing more about these exciting adventures in future editions of the newsletter.
