Principal's Message

Wawa, Wominjika.

Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin nation.

We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us.

We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.

The ‘Harvest’

Just a reminder that from next term, our school newsletter will be rebranded as The Harvest

Welcome Ginger

Our school Therapy Dog, Ginger, commenced life at Old Orchard this week and she has been a huge hit with the students and staff. Ginger is extremely cute and we look forward to her gradually playing a more active part in school life in the months ahead.

NAIDOC Week

All students at Old Orchard participated in our NAIDOC Week celebrations this week including sharing of class Yarning Circles, a special assembly in the Gymnasium, an incredible Bunjil creation and classroom activities explaining the significance of NAIDOC Week and much more.

Semester 1 Student Reports

Semester One student reports are now live on SENTRAL via the Parent Portal. If you have trouble accessing the report, please contact the school office.

School Uniform

School uniform is compulsory at Old Orchard. We are fortunate in having a fantastic uniform that is aesthetically pleasing and offers a wide range of choice. Commencing in Term 3, we will be sending home reminders with students who are not wearing correct uniform and repeated breaches may result in stronger consequences. The most common areas of concerns are:

  • Wearing of black or other coloured shorts, track-suit pants or leggings (instead of blue)
  • Long hair not being tied back
  • Wearing make-up or cosmetics
  • Wearing coloured nail polish
  • Wearing jewellery (studs or sleepers are fine)

Thank-you for your support in this matter. The Student Dress Code Policy can be found here.

End of Term 2

Term 2 concludes tomorrow with an early dismissal at 2.30pm. The arrangements for the afternoon are:

1.30pm Whole School Assembly in the Gymnasium

2.00pm Lunch Play

2.20pm Students return to class

2.30pm Students dismissed from classes for the end of term

My best wishes to all for a happy, relaxing and safe holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back for the commencement of Term 3 on Monday July 15th.

Kind regards

Duncan
