Year 4 String Concerts

This week, Year 4 students delighted families and friends with their first Strings Concert. The young performers were excited to showcase their newfound skills on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. From confidently holding their instruments to plucking notes and manoeuvring their bows with finesse, their excitement for music was evident.

Thank you to all that attended and to our passionate music tutors for encouraging their passion for music! We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and development in their musical journey.

Junior School Music Night

The Junior School Music Night was a fun evening with quality performances all round. The Junior Concert Band and The String Ensemble both displayed technical proficiency after only one semester of playing together. The Junior Chamber ensemble performed very musically, without a conductor which was an incredible feat for such a young group of players.

The remainder of the evening saw the three Junior choirs performing a range of songs. The Year 4's sang their first song in Spanish and delighted the crowd with the tale of a crazy cat, with apologies to native Spanish speakers. The Year 5/6 choir sang two songs which demonstrated their ability to sing in two or three parts with some additional body movements to change things up a little.

The evening concluded with the Junior Vocal Ensemble also singing two songs, one of which was written by choristers for Torres Strait. A huge thank you to the Junior School staff for helping with organisation of the evening,  and a special thanks to Mr Richard Braham for his piano accompaniment, Mrs Lena Bennett and Mrs Ventia Webber for their leadership of the instrumental groups.
