HIGHLIGHTS

Rugby League

The St Marys Rugby League team played Bentley Park on Wednesday in the semi-final going down by 1 try. The boys have put in a great effort this term and are looking forward to QISSRL.

Congratulations to Stevie Kepa and Shaelen Beckitt, who represented the Peninsula U12 Girls Touch team at the Rockhampton competition. 

 

We also congratulate Darcy Oliver, who placed 2nd in his age group in the 1.5km Green Island swim.

CAIRNS Ironman

We wish all students and St Mary's staff luck before competing at this year's Ironman on Sunday. Shout out to Mrs Robertson, competing in the full 70.3 distance! 

 

Keep your eyes peeled on Sunday with the college supporting the event by, volunteering at the finish line.

QISS Netball & Confraternity Rugby League

We wish our QISSN Netball team and the Confraternity Rugby League team all the best for their upcoming tournaments. Both teams will travel to Townsville from June 23 - 28. Both teams have trained hard leading up to this competition. We want to thank the wonderful coaches and managers who supported the students during the teachers' time. Thank you to Ms Tindall, Ms Jonsen, Ms Gibney, Mr Slatcher, Mr Tutoe, Mr Winter, and Ms Gorjup. We know you will represent the college with pride. 

TCS Athletics

Students have been emailed regarding their eligibility for the TCS Athletics Carnival. To qualify for the TCS Athletics Carnival, students must meet the below eligibility requirements:

                  - Placed 1st or 2nd place at Athletics Carnival (All events except 100m)

                  - Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at the Athletics Carnival 100m FINAL

 

Track & Field Championships 2024 (10 - 19 years old) 

Date:          Thursday, 1 August: Age 10 - 12 

                     Friday, 2 August: Age 13 - 19    

Location:  Barlow Park            

 

Peninsula Student Permission Paperwork                                      

Students must complete the attached Peninsula Permission Paperwork and return it to the HPE/SPORT Staffroom drop box for approval. 

Hard Copies can be collected from the stand beside the drop box at the HPE/SPORT Staffroom. All Peninsula Permission Paperwork must be returned to the sports department drop box by Monday, June 17. If you are not attending the TCS Athletics Carnival, please email Ms Tillett at ktillett@cns.catholic.edu.au. Once your Peninsula paperwork has been approved, more information regarding the TCS Athletics Carnival will be provided. 


KEY INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS

Junior and Senior Sports Program - Key Information: 

All sports information is uploaded to the Sports Canvas page. 

Years 7, 8 and 9 Students: Tuesday Periods 5 and 6

  • Students wear their house uniform. 
  • Please refer to the Junior Sports Plan to know what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet. This will be uploaded to the sports canvas page. 
  • JSS teams will be training, and Junior Sports Rotations will commence. 
  • All students must bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. 

Years 10, 11 and 12 Students: Wednesday Periods 5 and 6

  • Year 10, 11 and 12 students are to wear their SMCC sports uniform. 
  • Students will engage in the CISSA challenge and sports rotations for Week 10. 
  • Please refer to the Senior Sports plan to know what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet. This will be uploaded to the sports canvas page. 
  • All students must bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. 

TCS & PENINSULA TRIAL INFORMATION

TCS and Peninsula Trial Information:

Students wishing to trial for TCS must complete the Peninsula Paperwork before trialling. This can be downloaded from the Sports Canvas page, or a printed copy can be collected from the leaflet box outside the Sports Office (near the Sports Mailbox).

 

Parents must fill in the Peninsula Paperwork, which students will return to the Sports Mailbox. The Sports Department will seek the relevant approvals from the College Leadership Team. Students can collect the Peninsula Paperwork from the Sports Office at lunch two days after submission. Students must take this paperwork to the TCS trials (unless it is paper nominations). If it is a paper nomination, parents must submit it via the link/QR code provided.
