As Term 2 draws to a close the College will publish the Semester Reports for all students on Friday 28th June.

You can access your student’s report via your Compass Dashboard- simply click on your student’s name/photo in the mobile/phone app or navigate to the ‘Reports Tab’ on your PC to find the Semester One, 2024 Report.

You can download a copy of each Report from here if you wish. The College reports formally at the end of each semester, alongside our 5 weekly Progress Reports. These reports will help you understand how your student is progressing and how the College is determining each student’s growth and development.

Teachers plan, teach, assess and report students’ learning using the Victorian Curriculum. The Victorian Curriculum sets high standards for what all young Victorians should be taught and what they should know and be able to do as they progress through school. Each learning area has achievement standards. These standards describe in plain language what students should typically know, understand and be able to do, by the end of each year level. You are welcomed to read through the standards for each subject area and year level, and when students are expected to achieve them, on the Victorian Curriculum website: http://victoriancurriculum.vcaa.vic.edu.au The website also includes helpful examples of student work at different levels of achievement.

What are the requirements for student reports?

Written reports are just one way that the College communicates with you about how your student is progressing at school. These Reports

· reflect all subjects studied

· are based on a five-point achievement scale

· use plain language

· identify areas of strength and areas that need more development

· share attendance rates

· track learning behaviours across the semester

Years 7-10 student reports are based on an achievement scale, along with supported by a description of what this means in relation to their progress against the achievement standard. Year 11 and 12 reports share satisfactory (S) and not satisfactory (N) results against Areas of Study (AOS).

How do teachers allocate values and results?

Teachers use a range of different assessment strategies and tools to gather evidence of student achievement with reference to the achievement standards in the Victorian

Curriculum. Based on the evidence, teachers make an on-balance judgement to decide which value best matches the standard the student has achieved. Teachers are not expected to allocate a set number of each value within their class.

What other forms of reporting does the College provide?

The College communicates with you about your student’s learning in a variety of ways including parent-teacher conferences. You can request interviews at other times by contacting the school to make a mutually convenient time to meet with your student's teacher.

Compass is also used to share real time learning, attendance and learning behaviours. All pretests, formative assessment check ins, homework (where applicable) and other course requirements are all visible and displayed within the Compass portal.

Curriculum (Years 7-10)

Alison Dowler - Learning Specialist

As we approach the midpoint of the year, we're excited to share the latest curriculum updates across Years 7-10.

Students have now completed their term 2 summative assessment period towards the end of term which provides a structured approach to evaluating student progress in each of their subjects.

This assessment period is followed by Feedback Week allocated in the last week of term where students receive constructive feedback from their teachers on their learning tasks to enhance their learning and provide them targeted feedback moving forward.
