Grade 2 Report

Over the past few weeks the Grade 2 classrooms have been very busy places!  The students have been hard at work with their reading, writing and maths portfolio tasks.  

For writing and reading, they have completed their unit on narratives and are starting to explore poetry and reading poems with expression and fluency. 

We have really enjoyed writing our own rhyming and alliteration poems and the students did a fantastic job of writing list poetry about things that make them happy.  They have also enjoyed learning about how people have lived in the past and have explored how things like communication tools, transport and toys have changed over the years.  

As part of this unit, we had an incursion that explored “Toys over Time”.  The students had a wonderful time playing with lots of different toys and learning about how these toys have changed through the ages.  The students have also presented their “Speaking and Listening” projects.  

For these presentations, students were asked to interview an older person about how life has changed since they were young.
