Learning and Teaching

Inquiry Term 2
This term has seen some amazing science emerge. We've had science days in each of the learning centres, where students have either explored different areas of science or completed many different science experiments.
Students in years 3 - 6, chose their own science experiments to further investigate and learned how to explain the scientific phenomena that they explored.
Inquiry Term 3
Next term, we will have different inquiries happening across the school, Prep - Year 4 will explore Geography whilst our year 5/6s will explore History.
Geography at prep - year 2 involves exploring the local level. Students will be introduced to words such as Earth, continents, countries, states, territories, cities and suburbs. As you visit places as a family, it would be great if you could name some of these places. For example, we are going to the zoo, it is in the city of Melbourne and the suburb of Parkville.
Geography at year 3 - 4 explores countries and continents neighbouring Australia, this will link strongly to spatial mathematical work when exploring maps.
History at year 5/6 explores the causes and effects of change on society, particularly around the Gold Rush era. Students will be learning about timelines, chronological order, and sources of information to create an explanation about a past event, person or group using sources of evidence and historical terms and concepts.
