Information for Year 9-12 Students and Families
ALL current Year 9 and Year 10 students and their families are required to attend the 2025 Senior School Information Evening.
** An apprenticeship information session will be held prior at 6pm. Please register your interest for this session by emailing Nicole in our Careers & Pathways team Nicole.hobson@education.vic.gov.au
Students, and their guardians, will be presented with the subjects and course structures on offer in 2025, along with Subject Selection documentation. Heads of Faculty, representatives from AGA and TAFE Gippsland, as well as Head Start (school-based apprenticeships) and Apprenticeship Centre representatives will be on hand to answer all your pathway questions.
Why is this a compulsory event? Studies have shown that when parents/guardians are actively involved and support their child’s schooling, students show higher academic achievement, school engagement, and motivation. We love to see students achieve success and that success starts with support from not only teaching and support staff but also from parents/guardians at home.
Students will receive their Course Selection sheets at the Senior Information Evening and will undertake a Course Counselling interview (dates below) which will be conducted by our College Counsellors. Parents are encouraged to attend to be involved in discussions about their child’s pathway choice and subjects selected to ensure they meet their pathway goals and where applicable, prerequisite needs. A timetable schedule will be released early next term.
Year 9 into 10 Friday 26th July
Year 10 into 11 Tuesday 27th July
Year 11 into 12 Thursday 25th July
If you have any questions, please contact our Senior Sub School Leader Ms Petra Hopkins: Ph – 5667 9000 or petra.hopkins@education.vic.gov.au
Mid-Year VET reports have started to come through from training providers for those students in Year 11 and 12 who are undertaking a VET subject. Is your child struggling with or have questions about their pathway? Or struggling at school and you are wondering what options may be available? If students and their guardians wish to book a one-on-one Pathways Interview with our Career and Pathways Adviser, please email the request through to Nicole.hobson@education.vic.gov.au and we can arrange a time to sit down together.
We have received results from the Morrisby profiling which year 9 students undertook earlier this term with some very pleasing results. It was great to see that most students took the profiling seriously.
The next step in the process is one on one interviews with an external Career Counsellor where students will undertake a 30-minute interview to discuss career suggestions based on students highlighted interests' skills and abilities. Unfortunately, these interviews are not scheduled until after our Course Counselling and Subject Selection early next term, so we will spend time during the first week of term 3 to go through results. During this session we will also explore the electives on offer for year 9 into year 10 students.

Parents sometimes have different questions than student and are looking for different information, such as on-site campus security, job outcomes for courses, and financial support.
