Our Prep students have been practising their kicking skills in Term 3. We practised our accuracy by playing the "Space Launchers" game. Students worked in teams to knock down as many objects as possible by kicking. We then practised small controlled kicks when dribbling by playing the "Clean the Sea" game. Students then had to collect the knocked over objects whilst dribbling with the soccer ball.
Over the past two weeks, our students have been learning about body parts in Mandarin through engaging activities like music, games, and drawing faces with labels. They’ve enjoyed the process and are becoming more familiar with the vocabulary. Next week, we’ll expand our focus to include additional body parts such as knees, legs, hands, shoulders, and feet, continuing with interactive methods to help them confidently identify and name these parts in Mandarin.
The Grade 3 and 4 students have been doing an artist study on Pablo Picasso this week. They have learnt about Picasso's life and focused on the style of art he helped create: Cubism. Cubism is creating artworks using a lot of shapes, and taking realistic things - like a face - and twisting the reality until you get all the features of a face, but represented in an unusual way. The students used coloured paper to make their Cubist inspired artworks and had a lot of fun being creative and thinking outside the box. Picasso would be proud!
We are now into our second week of School Production dance practice for Kalm Kidz TV in the classroom Music Program. Our grade 5 and 6 students have worked on the first two sections of their individual year level dance routines for their part of the show.
Miss Daniella is joining us in the Music Program each lesson until show day. Miss Daniella is an incredible dance (Performing Arts) teacher. Our SMPS students are very lucky to have her guide us to the stage.
Students have been very enthusiastic about learning the choreography that they will perform on Monday, 9th September 2040 at CIEL the Venue for the SMPS community. Tickets are on sale for Kalm Kidz TV via Compass now!
Within Performing Arts, Grade 5 and 6 students have continued to learn choreography for the school production. Students have been working so hard to remember the dance routines and their talents have truly shone. These past two weeks, all classes have embraced the new choreography, explored diverse dance styles and collaborated on group pieces, showcasing their hard work and enthusiasm.
Stay tuned for more, as our young dancers are just getting started!
