Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

Last week, the Prep students celebrated a very special milestone – 100 days of Prep! On this special day they participated in many different and fun learning activities that related to the number 100. The students made a 100 themed crown, necklaces with 100 fruit loops, Lego Masters building challenges and were all given certificate to mark the incredible achievement. Some students came dressed up as if they were 100 years old, others dressed in beautiful 100 themed shirts, and everyone looked incredible!

The Prep teachers created a fun video to show the students how excited they were to celebrate this day. The students loved it and asked if they could watch it 100 times. We wanted to thank Miss Olivia for her amazing editing skills. It was such a great day acknowledging how far our Preps have come. Congratulations and well-done Preps, we are SO proud of each and every one of you.

Year 1

Our Year 1 students have been loving the opportunity to visit our school library! Every Tuesday our students get a chance to borrow two books. This week, because our students have been doing a wonderful job taking care of the books, Miss Zoe has decided that the Year 1 students are able to begin borrowing early chapter books! We encourage our students to remember to bring their library bag every Tuesday so that they can borrow books from our school library.

Year 2

Our Year 2 students embarked on an excursion to TwistedEd Science as part of our Unit 'Flash! Bang!' with a focus on light and sound. Students participated in a workshop where they explored the colours within white light, sound sources and the way light and sound move. They had time to be scientists and explore many different stations. These ranged from bubbles, rocket launching, pipe connections and building. Check out some of our mini scientists below.

Year 3

The Year 3 students have been thoroughly enjoying their Ancient Egypt Humanities topic. They have been exploring the fascinating world of Egyptian Gods and Goddesses. Last week, the students had the exciting opportunity to create their own headdresses and practice writing in hieroglyphs. It's been a delight to watch them immerse themselves in this ancient culture!

In Science, students have been investigating forces. This week, we explored friction and its impact on motion. We took our learning outdoors to experiment with friction on different surfaces.

Year 4

This Term the Grade 4s have been learning about collaboration and teamwork. We started by learning about the skills needed to work as an effective team by viewing an Olympic synchronized swimming routine and discussing the skills that each member would have needed to show. We then put these skills into practice by undertaking the ‘Straw Tower Challenge’. Each team had 25 minutes, 30 straws, 1m of tape and 10 paper clips to build the highest tower possible. We loved seeing the teamwork of the Grade 4s on show!

Year 5

Last Tuesday, the Year 5 students had an excursion to the Immigration Museum. We attended the ‘Our Stories’ workshop where we had the opportunity to explore stories from a range of different people who have settled in Australia from other countries. After the workshop, the students explored the Museum and they had to find the answers to questions. They wrote their answers in their ‘passport’. The students represented the school excellently and we were very proud of them. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers who came on the day.

Year 6

This week in English, Year 6 students continued their learning on bushfires through our novel study on 47 Degrees by Justin D'ath. One way students demonstrated their understanding of the text was by creating a storyboard to summarise Part Two of the novel. Check out some of the Year 6 students' storyboards below!
