PREP NEWS

This Week In Prep

We had an exciting week in Prep, highlighted by a delightful event celebrating our wonderful Year 5/6 teacher Anna. She will be getting married to her partner Stu during the school holidays in the US, and we had a lovely pretend wedding at school to join in their joy.

In literacy, we've been focusing heavily on phonics, which is fundamental for early literacy. The children have been working hard to recognize letters and their sounds, as well as learning how to blend these sounds to read words.

In numeracy, we've been exploring different ways to make numbers using a variety of concrete materials such as Unifix blocks, counters, and beads on pipe cleaners. This hands-on approach helps the children understand numbers better.

Our students continue to enjoy fine motor rotations, which are designed to build and strengthen their fine motor skills.

We also had a wonderful time connecting with our local kindergartens. Our Prep teachers, accompanied by some of our school leaders, visited the kindergartens to read with the children.

Looking ahead, we have our parent-teacher interviews scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week. Please make your bookings via Compass before they close this Friday. Reports will also be available on Compass this Friday at 4 pm.

A friendly reminder: with the wet weather, it’s important for students to have a set of spare clothes in their bags at all times. Additionally, if you could send your child with a box of tissues, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
