From the Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to the second half of the 2026 school year. It is going to be another busy one with great things happening each week. I want to start by thanking the families who were able to join us at the end of term for a community breakfast and participation in the primary school Play is The Way program. There was robust competition had by all.
This Friday, Mrs Speirs, Mr Thornton and myself are part of the Curriculum and Policy Monitoring process. The focus for this meeting is on the delivery of the History and Geography curriculum in Stage 2. Thank you to Mrs Bray, Mr Thornton and Mrs Speirs for their work in the collection of evidence for the meeting.
Creative Arts
Last week I was lucky to attend the Small Schools Transitions Creative Arts Camp at Dubbo Zoo. Students in Stage 3 were invited to spend three days with 120 students from small schools from all over the state. From the lions waking us at 4am with their roaring to the nocturnal animals singing us to sleep, we cycled, walked, and had rides in the golf carts around different areas of the zoo while building skills in the Creative Arts. As always the students of ACS shone in their ability to make friends, deal with challenges, and build new skills.
Students are busy with submissions for the Capture Coolamon photographic competition and the Up2Date Art competition, while also preparing for the Ardlethan Show. We wish all students the best of luck with their submissions.
Next week we are heading to Griffith for KROP. Long days are going to be had and I thank each person who is working to make this happen. A detailed report will come in the next newsletter. Please make sure that all items heading to KROP are clearly labelled with both the name of the individual and the school.
Sport
The term started with Nevaeh heading to Horsley Park for State Cross Country. She proudly represented the school and the Riverina in this competition and should be proud of her efforts.
Several Secondary student are heading to Albury today for Riverina Athletics. We wish them the best as they brace against the wintery weather and compete in their area of excellence against students from all over the area. Primary students will be heading off later in the term for their turn to shine.
RAP Sport has again allowed students to shine. Having the six schools combine for sport from Year 7 allows students not only the chance to participate in their sport of choice but also to build the social connections that allow them to show success throughout their schooling and beyond.
