Sport

It has been another busy and exciting term in PE!
Foundation – Year 2
Our younger students have been developing their teamwork, coordination, spatial awareness and movement skills through lots of fun challenges and games. Balloons, hoops and bean bags have all been put to good use as students have worked together, shared equipment and explored different ways of moving safely.
We have also introduced a range of new tag games, helping students learn some of the basic ideas behind invasion games, finding space, changing direction, avoiding defenders and working with others. A particular favourite has involved our newest PE friend, Oct the Octopus!
Years 3–6
Our older students have had a strong focus on teamwork, fair play and invasion games. Students have been challenged to communicate, work together and think tactically while attacking and defending in a range of modified games.
4-Ball Kickball has been a great way to put teamwork and fair play into action, while another game has quickly become a HUGE favourite across the school Mushroom Ball!
These activities have encouraged students to work as a team, include others, communicate and show good sportspersonship while still enjoying some healthy competition.
Gymnastics has arrived!
This week we were very excited to begin our four-week gymnastics incursion with Luke from Melbourne Tumbling Academy.
Across the program, students will develop their balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and confidence while learning a range of gymnastics movements and skills. It has already been fantastic to see students challenging themselves, giving new things a go and supporting their classmates.
Keep moving at home!
You don't need lots of equipment to keep developing your PE skills at home! Students could:
- Challenge a family member to see who can hold a balance the longest Plank, Bear Crawl or Crab Holds.
- Create a sequence of balances and movements.
- Create a simple obstacle course using safe household items.
- Finish with some gentle stretching.
Most importantly keep moving, keep challenging yourself and have fun!
