Book Week - Ruby

Book Week was a great experience for all of us! There were some amazing costumes and prizes. A highlight was spending the day playing in our costumes after the parade. I was in a GIANT puffy dress, and my friend was painted green with black clothes on. We cannot wait for our next dress up opportunity. I wonder what everyone will do next time!

Book Week was a great reminder for us to read for leisure, not just read when you have to! Please see some of our book recommendations below.

  • The Keeper of Lost Cities

    by Shannon Messenger

  • The Summer I Turned Pretty

     by Jenny Han

  • Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

Some reading advice from Zerya:

“ Read what you want and enjoy not just what your neighbour or friends are reading.”

GTAC - Zerya

Did you know that one in every five mouthfuls of food that you eat relies on bees?!?

GTAC was a long-awaited excursion after we had a wonderful time when it was presented as an incursion. Thank you, Alice and Ellie, for helping organise such a great excursion for us.

We embarked on our journey on Friday the 14th of August. We made our way to University High School, where GTAC is located. While on the excursion we learnt about pollution issues and how we can use robotics to help this. We learnt about more complex ideas such as, the varroa mites that take over bees and eat the babies.

We also used state of the art microscopes and robots.  Overall, it was a unique and special experience. Just a friendly reminder to not spray pesticides.

How to help at home

Make a bee friendly garden, if you don't have space for a garden maybe even just a bunch of lavender to brighten your space, bee’s love the colour purple!
