St Patrick's Day Reflection
On Friday, 15 March, ten school leaders from St John's went to the St Patrick's Cathedral church ceremony in celebration of St Patrick's Day. The student leaders, Mrs. Gridley and Mrs. Buscema travelled there on the train and then shortly after we were seated at St Patrick's Cathedral along with thousands of other students and teachers from across Melbourne. The cathedral was very beautiful. It was very big and tall and had very pretty stained glass windows telling different stories from the bible. When the ceremony started, all the different schools walked up the aisle with their banners and two people were playing the bagpipes in the background. There was an amazing choir and the archbishop did a very good job of leading the mass. Once it was over we all took a tour around the cathedral, inspecting all of the small chapels, statues and many other interesting things that we saw. We looked at the elaborate tabernacle, the place where the bread and wine were kept, the side chapel and the organ. There were also many amazing statues outside. After that, we all went to a big picnic where all the schools came together and it was super fun! There were multiple bands that just sounded terrific and we danced and sang along. There were many fun activities around the park. As we were heading back to school we were surprised that Mrs Gridley got us a milkshake for a treat, which we were very happy and grateful about! I think everyone was exhausted by the end of the day but it was such an amazing experience and we learnt so much.

LENT- Prep Hand Prayers
Our Prep students have been preparing themselves this Easter by writing some prayers for others this term. We tend to think of Lent as a time to give something up but it can also be a time to take something on. Our Prep students are learning about the importance of prayer at any time.
