Susan's Hangout

Hi, from your Chaplain!

I thought I would share some ideas that can help build  deeper relationships with you and your children.

I have broken my thoughts down to Part 1 and Part 2. I don’t want to overload you, just give you food for thought.

PART 1

Creating deeper relationships between yourselves and your children is essential when fostering your child’s healthy development and strong family bonds. Here are some ideas that you may like to implement to strengthen your relationships with your children:

Quality Time:

Cherish Quality Time Together, that uninterrupted time with your children on a regularly basis. Consider spending special moments with your children, fully engaging in activities that bring joy to you both. Whether it's playing games, taking leisurely walks, cooking together or just sharing heartfelt conversations, these moments can strengthen your bond in beautiful ways.

Positive Reinforcement:

Celebrate Every Achievement, take the time to acknowledge and celebrate your child's efforts and accomplishments with use of positive reinforcement. Shower them with your praise, encouragement, and affection. Remember: You are their biggest supporter. This will help them to build trust and confidence in themselves.

Active Listening:

Listen with an Open Heart, try to really listen when your child speaks, showing them that you value their thoughts and feelings. By doing this you are validating your child’s world.  Asking gentle, open-ended questions can help them express themselves more freely, deepening your connection.

Shared Interests:

Discover Common Interests, explore hobbies or interests that you both enjoy. Whether it’s crafting, sports, music, art, exploring nature or trying out new recipes, discovering shared passion can create lasting memories and strengthen your relationship.

Family Rituals:

Embrace Family Traditions, create simple traditions or rituals that bring your family together regularly. Family rituals or traditions provide opportunities for bonding and connection.  Whether it's a cozy movie night, a weekly family meal, or a fun outing on weekends, these rituals can foster closeness and create a sense of belonging.

Here just a few ideas for Part 1 around building stronger connection within your family. If you can implement any of Part 1 you will see a deeper relationship developing now and for your future.

Thanks

Susan (The Chaplain)
