Performing Arts News

Hello everyone,

Our wonderful Dancers are working on creating choreography in groups for their dance pieces that they will be performing before the end of the term. The Preps have been exploring performing art this term by following choreograph and improvising dance. This week and last week they have been exploring music including voice, body percussion and instruments. The students have been doing a fantastic job of singing ‘The Flower Song’, making rhythmic patterns with their bodies and using the instruments with care respect. In the following two weeks prep students will be practising drama and their acting skills. Look out for more information in the next newsletter.

In grades 1 & 2 students have starting making their end of term performance by matching dance moves to match the feeling of a piece of music. Students have started working in small groups to create a dance to perform to another class by the end of the term.

The grade 3-6 students have started creating their own dances in small groups. Students have used student voice to choose their music and dance movements to choreograph a dance. It has been amazing to see how the students have grown in their dancing over the term.
