All the girls got picked for possible and probables and Sara Dixon made it through to the NW trials.
Dallas Kelly and Morris Collins were also selected for NW trials.
Congratulations to all students on supporting their teammates and being willing to keep running in the Inverell heat! Also for the beautiful rendition of Stand by Me to round off the bus ride home.
Thanks Elijah and Skye for running the teams and Mrs Drielsma for driving the bus.

International Women's Day function that was held at the Bowling Club Monday 4th March.
The Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault - The Hon Jodie Harrison MP - was the keynote speaker.
Year 12 Arts Captain Josie O'Baoill was on the discussion panel. There were many comments from the audience about how confidently and articulately Josie spoke. She was a true advocate for young women, the environment, the power of education, and young people in rural and regional communities. We were very proud.
Our students representatives were outstanding and made the most of the opportunity, both listening intently to the speakers, and asking questions of Minister Harrison during the lunch time.
The event was also attended by our local members for the Federal and State Governments, Barnaby Joyce and Adam Marshall.
Armidale Secondary College hosted the annual Interschool Chess Challenge from the Sydney Academy of Chess! We had both primary and secondary divisions again this year which is fantastic to see. A huge thank you to the Schools that could make the day happen.
At the end of the day after many tough games that were well played from both sides ASC came out on top with all 5 top ranking players. The primary division showed some epic games with a lot of great sportsmanship, can't wait to see the progression of these players.
Year 11 students attended the UNE to run STEM based activities for primary students from across the region. This also provided them the opportunity to meet some professors and check out the grounds.
Then our Year 9 and 10 Extension classes competed against other schools in similar STEM based activities. We achieved 2nd overall, an amazing achievement!
ASC Captains were at the Bowling Club to celebrate International Women's Day being the 8th March. Thank you very much to all our lovely captains and a few staff members for making the effort, as it was a very early morning.
Thanks to Armidale Bowling Club for the invite.

ASC History Faculty hosted a wonderful presentation from historian Shane Blackman.
Mr Blackman shared his extensive collection of artefacts from the trenches of WWI. Students asked excellent questions to build their understanding of soldiers' experiences of trench warfare. The presentation was compelling but sobering, too, as students reflected on the devastation and loss.
Rugby Union: ASC EAGLES VS Farrer
ASC EAGLES 1st XV 12 - Farrer U/16s 31
ASC EAGLES/NW CHS u/18s XV 30 - Farrer U/18s XV 25
Last Friday saw a historic first Rugby Union match for Armidale Secondary College vs CHS Rugby juggernauts, Farrer.
In the first match ASC 1st XV played against Farrer Under 16s. Only six of ASC's boys had every played rugby Union before. In a highly competitive match , Farrer ran out winners 31-12 , scoring two late converted tries to blow the scoreline out in their favour.
In the second match , an under18s game, Farrer lent ASC seven NW CHS players for each 20-minute period of rugby. The game was played as trial match to prepare Farrer for their upcoming tour of New Zealand and to allow the NW CHS lads form combinations before their state carnival.
ASC have four boys in the NW Squad, Dallas Kelly ( outside centre), Jack McLeod (lock), Cooper Collins ( scrumhalf)and Henry Blackwell( openside breakaway). With the experienced Farrer boys joining the four ASC Eagles representative players and other ASC students, Morris Collins, Ahmed Al-Hassani, David Ahoy, Matt Myers and Byron Armstrong, the game was highly competitive and entertaining with the ASC/NW CHS combination defeating Farrer five tries to three.
Morris Collins was voted MVP on the day scoring two electrifying long range tries and looking dangerous every time he touched the ball. Coope Collins kept the ruck tight with strong defence and got his inexperienced around the park well. Jack Mcleod and Henry Blackwell were dominant in all facets of both games. But a special mention must go to Ahmed Al-Hassani who was playing his first ever game of competitive of either rugby code and improved all day and impressed with his physicality at the break down. ASC's next foray come later in the year when they are due to play in the u/18s Statewide Schools Knockout , the Waratah Sheild.
Special thanks goes to the Armidale Womens Shelter for supporting the day by providing refreshments and a BBQ lunch. Pete Collins from New England Rugby for technical support for our players new to rugby and for refereeing the U/18s match. Steph Lennon, Development officer for the NSW Waratahs for refereeing the first match and providing the logistical and risk management framework to make it a successful first event for ASC in Rugby. And the biggest thanks to our head General Assistant, Mr Wayne Gaw for preparing a pitch that was able to played on safely despite the massive deluge we had had in the twenty four hours leading up to the match.
The Open Girls Touch team put on a stellar performance in the first round of the CHS Knockout at Inverell on Monday 8th April.
Despite finishing just 1 point behind Glen Innes, our team showed incredible sportsmanship and teamwork throughout.
Huge thanks to Skye for her excellent coaching! Go team!
SlimeFest 2024 @ Newling: Take 2.
Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, you can’t stop SlimeFest!
This THURSDAY 11 April, Slimefest2024 @ Newling will bring together approximately 380 students from seven schools across Armidale and surrounds.
The Year 5 & 6 students will make new friends, work together, tackle challenges and face bucketloads of slime as they take on 10 stations designed to tax their brains and provide plenty of laughs.
Student leaders from Armidale Secondary College will be helping teachers to run the event, with all involved risking an accidental sliming (or several) throughout the day.
In its second year, the event has already doubled in size and welcomes students from public and independent schools to foster friendship and connections across the year group, regardless of which school they attend.
