Week 6, Term 1
As we prepare for NAPLAN next week, we ask that all of our Grade 3 students bring their netbooks and netbook chargers into school next Tuesday. Netbooks will be stored at school for the remainder of the week to ensure that they are charged and ready for NAPLAN each day. They will then be sent home Friday afternoon.
As part of our remaining Topic lessons this term, students will have the opportunity to design and make their own marble run! They will begin by creating a list of supplies that they can bring in from home and then create their marble runs using a variety of available materials such as:
Mathematics: In Applied Maths, we will explore the variety of different ways that we can measure length. Student will also explore Addition and Subtraction throughout our Fluid Group sessions for the remainder of this term.
Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will continue to develop their ideas using their Writer's Notebooks and work towards consistently recognising and using boundary punctuation in the texts they create. In Reading, we will learn about figurative language and how to recognise it in different texts. We will then look at the importance of punctuation in Week 8 and how it helps our fluency and expression as we read aloud.
Topic: Students have enjoyed learning about Diwali 'The Festival of Lights' and Bastille Day as we explored different celebrations that are held around the world. We are also very excited to begin designing and creating our marble runs in the upcoming fortnight!
