Principal's Report

Happy International Women’s Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women.

International Women's Day provides an important opportunity for teachers, parents and caregivers to educate and inspire students about gender equality. From celebrating women's achievements to challenging gender stereotypes and bias, educating future generations about gender equality is one of the most significant differences anyone can make.

To all of the wonderful women in our school community…thank you for your awesome contributions and for helping to make a difference in our school community, and in the lives of those around you.

To celebrate the amazing women on our staff, our male staff members will be cooking pancakes and 'shouting' a coffee from the café tomorrow morning.

Nuts at School?

Our school is not a ‘nut free’ school, however, we do support your children to follow important guidelines to ensure all of our children are safe at school, especially those with an allergy to nuts (and/or other foods).

Due to issues relating to anaphylaxis, allergies, diabetes etc, students are not to swap/share food with other children. Although we have detailed anaphylaxis plans for students who are anaphylactic, all students play a vital role in preventing students from being exposed to what causes an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis.

Earlier this year, some families were contacted to detail these risks directly. Please continue to have these conversations with your children and ensure all of our children are safe at school.

Statewide timeline to manage Prep enrolments for the 2025 school year

The statewide enrolment timeline provides Victorian government primary schools with clear timeframes for enrolling students who will commence Prep in the 2025 school year.

This will be the second time that schools will use a statewide timeline for enrolments into the Prep year. The timeline seeks to support schools and families by making the Prep enrolment process simpler, clearer and fairer.

The timeline includes key dates, activity descriptions and an overview of responsibilities to help schools to plan for their Prep enrolments. Key dates and activities for schools in the 2024–25 timeline include the following:

  • Schools can receive enrolment applications from parents and carers from the start of Term 2, 2024. This follows the release of 2025 zones on the department’s Find my School website and the publication of Foundation enrolment information packs.
  • Enrolment applications from parents and carers are to be submitted by Friday 26 July 2024.
  • Schools notify parents and carers of the outcome of enrolment applications between Monday 29 July and Friday 9 August 2024.
  • Written appeals from parents and carers are to be lodged with schools by Friday 23 August 2024.
  • Schools notify parents and carers in writing of the outcome of appeals by Friday 6 September 2024.

School Attendance

EVERY DAY COUNTS & EVERY MINUTE MATTERS - SO, IT'S NOT OK TO BE AWAY

We understand that at times it may be necessary for your child to leave school early or arrive late. We do ask that appointments are made outside of school hours wherever possible in order to minimise the interruption to student learning and maximise their time at school. Thanks in advance for your support.

Labour Day Holiday

Students are not required at school on Monday, 11th March due to the Labour Day Holiday.

National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)

This year NAPLAN will be conducted from March 13th-15th. The assessment program tests Years 3 and 5 students in reading, persuasive or narrative writing, grammar and punctuation, numeracy and spelling. This year NAPLAN will continue to be largely completed in an online format for students.
