School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Family MACSSIS Surveys are now available and have been circulated via hard copy this week to the eldest child in the school.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. We believe that it is important to encourage all families to have a voice and contribute to shaping our ongoing development moving forward. The average completion time is under 10 minutes, and we really do appreciate the time taken to provide perception data to the school.

The survey closes on Friday 15th September 2022. If you have misplaced the survey link, please don’t hesitate to contact the office.

Save The Date, Catherine McCallig 7pm on Thursday 26th October

Catherine McCallig returns this year to host our family education evening on puberty in Term 4. Bookings will open the first week back after holidays and further information will be circulated. The information evening will take place over zoom, allowing parents and carers to watch and listen with Catherine and also have private conversations with their children.

This information evening is highly recommended for families with children in Year 5 and Year 6. The cost is $20 per family and the topics include:

  • The Who, What, When and Why of Puberty (including the pituitary gland and hormones).
  • Body parts and their correct, anatomical names
  • The common physical, social and emotional changes of puberty are discussed, allowing time for students to talk with their attending adult(s) about management strategies.
  • The specific changes according to a person’s body parts are covered (including wet dreams and periods) and again students have the opportunity to discuss management with their adults.

Italian Day, Friday 3rd November ( a message from Signora Vozzo)

Dear Parents, Guardians & Special Friends of St Mary’s Community,

This year we are celebrating Italian Day on Friday 3rd November.

Our theme this year is Carnevale.

Students are to come dressed in a costume that is connected to Italy and its culture. They are invited to make their own creative mask and wear it for the fashion parade. If this is not possible, dressing in the Italian colours of green, red and white is preferable.

The day will commence with the much loved fashion parade and a musical showcase from each year level. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend.

Throughout the remainder of the day students will be engaged in many energetic activities.

Students can pre order a slice of Margherita Pizza and or a Gelato for that day. Chocolate gelato or Strawberry sorbet. Further details will be send out at the beginning of Term 4.

Thank you for supporting your children with the preparation of their mask and costume.

We look forward to an exciting and fun filled day!

Signora Vozzo
