Leadership Report
We are now beyond the halfway point in the term - at the end of Week 6! Time is flying and there have been so many wonderful things happening at our school. Let's take a look...
Unveiling our Torres Strait Islander Flag
Last week, a flagpole was installed to enable us to fly the 3 official flags, the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, each day.
We currently have one Torres Strait Islander student at our school, Kieran. He had the special privilege of being the first one to fit and fly his own flag on the new pole. Please take a look at the photos and video below.
This was a very special occasion for Kieran and our entire school. We are so thrilled to be able to share this with our community.
Book Week
Book Week took place last week and was a wonderful celebration at Marion PS. I was amazed by student engagement in books, reading and literature. We finished the day with the wonderful Book Week Parade at Assembly. This was my first taste of Book Week at Marion and to say I was blown away by the whole week would be an understatement. Be sure to check out our dedicated Book Week page to get a get close-up look at how we celebrated it.
Bunnings Garden Visit
On Thursday 21st September, Bunnings Marion is coming to work with our Junior Primary classes planting out and sprucing up our school garden. We have been lucky enough to build a local network with Bunnings Marion's School Garden Program. The program sees us the fortunate beneficiaries who are able to work with their staff to plant out our garden beds with vegetables and herbs. Bunnings donate all of the seedlings and the time of two staff members who will come and work with our students. From 1:30-2:30pm, they will run a session with all Junior Primary students who will have the opportunity to work with them to do some planting/watering. Their very knowledgeable staff will also help educate us about horticulture, watering, and the tips of the trade to grow a healthy and happy garden. Any remaining beds that they don't quite plant out during the session, they will kindly provide us with a gift card to enable us to get a free resources to finish off the job. This is amazing and I can't wait to see our thriving garden bursting with fresh veggies in herbs this Spring!
Be sure to take a look.
Kids Kahoot Quiz
In this edition of the newsletter, we have started with our first round of Kids Kahoot Quizzes. These will feature in each newsletter and will be a great way of our students engaging and being involved with the newsletter, whilst having a bit of fun and learning with the fortnightly quiz. There will be a Primary and Junior Primary Quiz each fortnight. Also, please keep your eyes peeled for the results from the previous quiz, which we will also share.
