‘Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination’
Last week’s performances of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" received rave reviews from all who came to watch.
With over 1,250 tickets sold, the audience was astonished by the talent of everyone involved; “The whole cast performed with so much joy and energy, it was contagious”, “What a polished show, we couldn’t believe this was a school production, it felt so professional”, “My daughters were singing all the way home and begging to come again the next night!”
This year’s musical was staged at Cardinia Cultural Centre and several of the venue staff said the BHCS production was one of the best school musicals they’ve ever had at their theatre!
With each show being dedicated to the glory of God, our Creator, the BHCS students were able to bless the audience with the transformative power of the arts. Whisking them away to the wonderful world of Willy Wonka and the faith of a young boy, Charlie Bucket, who was able to believe in the unseen. Our students delighted the audience with their energised dancing and phenomenal acting and singing, each of them taking to the stage like professionals.
It has been such an honour to head up this year’s production, watching students grow from nervous auditionees into confident and proficient performers, shining their talent to a delighted audience. I’m so proud of the student's dedication to the show and the time they put into building each other up as fellow artists. Nowhere else will you find something that will form the bonds of community, cemented across all year levels quite so powerfully; it’s a phenomenal thing to witness.
Whilst the onstage talent received most of the applause during show week, none of it would have been possible without the wonderful members of the Production Team. Hours and hours of behind the scenes work went into helping our students shine. I’m indebted to Miss Bosch, Mrs White, Miss Noy, Mr Kenny, Mr Booth, Mr Thompson, Mrs McDowell, Mrs Hargrave, Mrs Nicholls, Mr Scott and Mr Torcasio.
These staff all went out of their way to bless the production with their wisdom, creativity, time and talent. Thanks too to the many other staff and parents who dedicated their time to get our beautiful show to the stage, we honestly couldn’t have done it without you.
