Dear Families & Friends,
Last week, we held the second of our Cuppa & Chat mornings with some delicious home made scones made by Cath Palmer. Yum!
The Cuppa & Chats are a very informal gathering and provide an opportunity for parents to meet one another and share ideas and feedback with our school leadership team or just say hello! We had about five parents/carers join together around the staffroom island bench and, with Kim Dalmau (Maths Leader) being present, the conversation turned to teaching and learning in Mathematics.
Our next Cuppa & Chat will be on Thursday, 2nd November at 8.30am with Kaylene, Andrea and Sue(English Leader) in the staffroom.
All are welcome
Book Week is an annual event organized by the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). It is one of the most significant events in the Australian literary calendar and is celebrated by schools, libraries, and bookstores across the country. The primary purpose of Book Week in Australia is to promote children's literature, Australian authors, and illustrators, and to encourage a love for reading among young people.
Once again, Sacred Heart will be celebrating Book Week with a myriad of activities and events held across the week. Please ensure you read the Learning & Teaching section of the newsletter to find our more about what's on next week.
In a Catholic school, the importance of school uniforms is often tied to the values, principles, and mission of the Catholic faith and the same can be said of our Sacred Heart school uniform.
At Sacred Heart Primary School, our school uniform also serves to foster a sense of community and belonging. It contributes to a sense of unity among students, parents, and staff by creating a shared identity and a common visual symbol of the school's Catholic mission and values. When out in public, either on excursion or before and after school, our Sacred Heart school uniform can serve as a witness to the broader community, reflecting the school's commitment to fostering character development, academic excellence, and a faith-filled life.
It is a school wide expectation that all students are wearing full school uniform at all times, unless there is a special event or it has been otherwise communicated. Over the winter months, there has been an increasing number of students coming to school with incorrect uniform, including shoes.
We ask for your support in ensuring your child is dressed in the correct school uniform each day. Sports uniform should only be worn when there is a PE lesson scheduled or interschool sports. Over the weeks, teachers will be extra vigilant in reminding children of correct uniform. If your child does not have an item, you can purchase it from our uniform supplier in Port Melbourne (PSW) or ask the office to purchase from our onsite second hand cupboard.
Last but not least, please ensure that all uniform items are correctly labelled with names as it makes it much easier to return items to their owners.
The First Eucharist is a significant sacramental event in the Catholic Church. It marks the occasion when a young Catholic child receives the Eucharist, which is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, for the first time. This sacrament is an integral part of the Catholic faith, as it signifies a deeper connection with Christ and participation in the communal life of the Church.
Beginning this Sunday, Year 4 Sacred Heart students will begin receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist. Each of the children will be in my thoughts and prayers as they participate in this very special day on their faith journey.
Have a wonderful weekend!
