Grade Three Topic

The year 3 students have loved delving into the study of landforms, weathering and natural disasters, along with their profound impacts on our environment. In the recent week, we conducted an experiment involving Mars Bars to visually represent various components of the Earth's structure. This hands-on activity effectively showcased the distinct layers of the Earth, including the mantle, crust, and core. The grade 3's had a great time completing this experiment.

Book Week

At our school, we have Book Week every year because it's a great way to connect through stories and have fun.

During Book Week, we participated in many awesome activities, and everyone had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book character. The most common costume at our school this year was Minions. Some students wore blow-up costumes, while others dressed in overalls and gloves. There was even someone who dressed up as King Bob!

Our activities included colouring, reading picture story books, a book parade, and a homework book week activity.

In 4T, our primary book that we read was "Dirt By Sea." We used our inspiration to decorate our front door by colouring in camping vans and attaching pictures of our faces and our dads' faces onto the vans.

"Dirt by Sea" is about a little girl and her dad going on a road trip. One day, the dad realises he has never taken his daughter to the beach. So, he takes her on a road trip all around Australia to visit nearly all the beaches around the world.

First Communion

To start off we needed to get prepared for Eucharist. We had Eucharist homework, Eucharist rotations, Church practice and we went to the Jewish Museum. At the Jewish museum we went upstairs to look at all of the cool artwork and history. We also tried the matzo and the wine (not real wine) . At the end of the day we visited the synagogue. The boys had to wear hats (Yarmalke) and the women had to be seated away from the men. I loved making the Sacrament of Eucharist and the grade 4 students all did a fantastic job.

Quotes from participants

Micaela- "I thought communion was an amazing environment to be blessed with the Body of Christ. Almost all of the Eucharist candidates got an opportunity to read, bring up the gifts, and get a moment in the spotlight."

Edward-  "I thought it was a great opportunity to grow closer to the Lord, Jesus Christ. It was a great experience and I thought it was a good religious event."

Lucy- "I thought communion was a time to reflect on what you’ve done in the past, like once you’ve received communion you kneel and pray for anything, overall it was a great time!"

Audrey- "I thought communion was really fun. I liked it a lot and I was lucky enough to have a reading. Every time we go to church we get the Body of Christ."

Sophie - Communion was amazing. especially to have your family take the time to come with you on this journey. To the future people making their communion. it may be scary in the beginning, but it is so worth it."

Ava- "It was very scary because I had to bring up a gift with Edie, Emily P and Rosie. Like what Sophie said, in the future if you are making your first Communion it’s an amazing feeling and your family will support you. "
