Attendance

Arriving Late

  • If you arrive late to school, you must go directly to Reception.
  • Sign in using the Compass Kiosk
  • Give your late pass to your teacher
  • Failure to sign in will result in a minor behaviour and detentio

Leaving Early

If you need to leave school before the end of the day:

  • Your parent/carer must submit an attendance note on Compass for the time of departure.
  • Before leaving, you must report to Reception and sign out with Reception staff (not on the Kiosk)
  • Without parent approval on Compass, you will not be permitted to leave.
  • Failure to sign out will result in a minor behaviour and detention

Key Reminders

  • Always check in at Reception if you arrive late.
  • Always check out at Reception if you leave early.
  • Parent approval on Compass is required for early departures.
  • These steps help keep everyone safe and ensure accurate attendance records.

Late Arrivals - Parent Approvals

If your child needs to arrive late to school due to illness, appointments, or other valid reasons, please log into your Compass portal and submit an Attendance Note before or shortly after arrival. This helps us maintain accurate attendance records and supports your child in settling smoothly into the school day.

Students are expected to sign in at Reception upon arriving late. This process ensures they are safely accounted for and ready to re-join learning without delay.

To submit a late arrival note:

  1. Log into Compass via the app or desktop

  2. Select your child’s profile

  3. Click + Add Attendance Note

  4. Choose the reason (e.g. Medical Appointment, Parent Choice)

  5. Add any relevant details and confirm the time of arrival

  6. Save

Submitting notes in advance (or by the end of the school day at the latest) prevents unnecessary follow-up or further consequences such as lunchtime detentions. This will also ensure your child’s attendance record remains accurate.

We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of arriving to school on time. A punctual start helps students feel settled, connect positively with their peers and teachers, and ensures they don’t miss valuable learning opportunities.

Unexplained Absences

It is preferable that absences are recorded on the day by logging on to Compass (please see the Compass Handbook for further assistance on how to approve absences).

Where absences cannot be explained on the day, they will remain Unexplained until a reason has been submitted by the parent/carer. (see page 10 of the Compass Handbook).

Parents are required to explain student absences as this is a requirement under the Department of Education Attendance Guidelines.
