Well done to all those who took part in the Prime Minister's Spelling Bee Round 1 this week. You all stepped up to the challenge and tried your very best!
The competition consists of three age categories, years 3–4, years 5–6 and years 7–8 and students are required to spell 30 words, with 25 seconds to spell each word.
Each student is ranked according to the accuracy of their spelling, and the time taken to spell each word. Every student who has competed will receive a Participation Certificate, and there are great prizes to be won, including the following for the National winners (3 in total, one in each category):
- A return flight to Canberra to meet the Prime Minister for each category winner (and their parent/guardian). Plus one night’s accommodation in Canberra for each category winner (and their parent/guardian).
- 1 x iPad.
- 1 x $250 HarperCollins book pack.
- 1 x National winner certificate.
In addition, the school of each national winner will receive 1 x $1,000 voucher to spend on books, technology or other equipment and supplies.
If anyone has made it through to Round 2, we will be notified next week!
