Foundation Fruit and Vegie Shop Visit

As part of our Inquiry unit ‘Our Community’, Foundation children recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to the local fruit shop. Children bought $2 spending money and had the opportunity to choose a piece of fruit from a selection that included mandarins, apples, bananas and carrots. The children were excited to make their own selections, carefully counting out their coins, and practising real-life skills such as handling money and receiving change.

To complement our learning in Maths, we made a stop at Curtain Square on the way back to school for a fun data collection activity. The children observed the passing traffic for 10 minutes, using tally marks to record the different coloured cars they saw. This information will be used back in the classroom to create picture graphs as part of our investigation into data. We discovered that white cars are by far the most popular in our community!
