KITCHEN AND GARDEN PROGRAM FOR 2025!
Kitchen
Round 3 in the kitchen is another busy one with . We've begun preparations for the Fresh Food Fair, making and bottling up tomato sauce to enjoy with our pumpkin and chickpea sausage rolls and to sell at the fair. Our homemade tomato sauce is always a huge hit with the students with many who say they prefer it to store-bought, and they are amazed it is so sweet with only an apple and a small amount of sugar providing the sweetness in the recipe. The Okynomiyaki (Japanese pancakes) was also happily devoured; it is a great recipe for those 'bottom of the fridge' nights, so perhaps next time you can set the kids to work to use up those random veggies in a delicious and healthy family meal.
As always, we would love to see you in the kitchen helping with classes. You don't need to be an experienced cook but an extra pair of hands and eyes can really help out, and it's great fun to see the kids in action. There is no need to let us know you're coming, please just sign in at the office and ensure you have completed your volunteer requirements with Vicki.
Also please ensure each student has a kitchen hat as they are required to be worn at every class. They are available to order from the uniform shop for $10.

Garden
Stunning gardening weather this fortnight have meant we have been able to get so much done!
Year 3s have been learning about compost and how smelly bins can get when they are not happy! Soon they will learn how to diagnose an unhealthy bin and then know how to fix it.
The students have been so efficient at weeding that there seems hardly anywhere left to weed :)
Year 6ers have been handing over their beds and the year 5s are now managing them beautifully.
With the weather warming up we need to update our sprinkler system. If you have any expertise in irrigation and happy to lend an hour or 2 to update some of the set up, please reach out. We would be so grateful for the help!
Volunteering in garden-Volunteering is super easy and so much fun. You dont need to be a garden guru either. We just want you to come along and help our brilliant kids with any garden tasks they do.
You do however need a current working with childrens check and complete a simple orientation through the office (5 mins) and then your ready to go.
You can either rock up on the day of your childs session or let me know prior. They more helpers we have, the more advanced work the kids to do. You dont even have to have a student in the program to volunteer. Just come along and hang out. You may even just want to help in the garden in general. Again, no experience required! You can come and potter around anytime. Just let me know when your are coming and Ill set you up with some tasks.
Happy gardening!!

Located at our Recycle Station in the foyer, we have a school stationary recycyling box. Next time you are tidying up your stationary and come across, unwanted, broken or end of life stationary, bring it in and pop it in the box. Each box we deliver to Officeworks for recycling, gives an entry to win a voucher to spend in store.
