Mathematics

Have a go at the following Maths Game and Maths at Home Tip. Feel free to get in contact with me if you would like any extra suggestions on how to include mathematics in your home routine!
Maths Game: Kitchen Maths Challenge
The kitchen is a perfect place for maths exploration!
How to Play:
- Choose a simple recipe and gather ingredients.
- Ask your child to measure quantities, double or halve the recipe, or calculate how many servings it makes.
- Encourage them to add, subtract, or multiply ingredients as needed.
- Older children can calculate costs or convert measurements between metric and imperial units.
- Enjoy the results together!
This game builds understanding of measurement, fractions, addition, and multiplication in a practical context.
Maths at Home Tip: Time Management
Use daily routines to teach time and sequencing. Ask your child to help plan the day, estimate how long tasks will take, or set timers for activities. Encourage them to compare actual time spent versus estimates. This helps develop planning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
By connecting maths to everyday experiences, children see its value and develop a love of learning. Explore numbers, shapes, and patterns together and make maths part of your daily routine!
