Ms. Julie Ryan

Year 9 & 10

Over the past few weeks, we have engaged in a highly successful course counselling process for our Year 10 students transitioning into Year 11 in 2026. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers attending these sessions to support their young person in selecting the most appropriate subjects and pathways for senior school. I would like to thank our dedicated course counsellors for their professionalism and expertise throughout this process.

It was equally pleasing to see such strong attendance at our recent information evenings for Years 8 into 9 and 9 into 10. These evenings are an important opportunity for students and families to understand the subject selection process and the opportunities available in the coming years. For our Year 8 students who were unable to attend, we will be holding a dedicated assembly where the same information will be presented, ensuring everyone has access to the details they need before making their selections.

I cannot stress enough the importance of following the process correctly and meeting the required timelines. Subject choices play a key role in shaping a student’s learning journey and so it is important to read the subject handbook and all provided resources to inform your decision making. If any current Year 10 students missed their course counselling appointment, they must contact the Year 11 team as soon as possible to arrange a time to finalise their subject choices and senior pathway.

Finally, I am looking forward to one of the most colourful and fun events of the term – our Book Week Dress-Up Day on Thursday 21 August. I can’t wait to see the creativity and enthusiasm in everyone’s costumes!
