MIDDLE School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
It has been a busy and exciting term for our Middle School students, with a strong focus on careers, wellbeing, and enrichment opportunities.
Throughout Term 3, students have been engaging in careers education, including our Middle School Careers Day (featuring Subject and Tertiary Expos) and the Year 11 Taster Day. These experiences give students valuable insight into future pathways and subject choices. Next week, Year 10 students will attend their Course Counselling sessions, and all students should now have completed their 2026 course selections. Thank you to the Careers Team (Mrs Cala Carla Caminiti, Mrs Teens Borshoff, Mrs Michaeli Lyon and Mrs Rhonda Gifford) for all their hard work in organising these valuable opportunities for our students.
This week, 50 of our Year 9 students are experiencing the incredible Cairns Camp, exploring the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island, and the Daintree Rainforest, among many other highlights. A huge thank you to Ms Victoria Stewart, Mrs Cheryl Hodgeson, Mrs Bianca Johnson, Mr Adam Martin, Mr Liam McDonald, Ms Sienna Robson, and Mr Patrick Bloink for their time and dedication in providing this unforgettable experience.
Our Year 10 students have also taken part in wellbeing sessions with Red Frogs and Smack Talk, coordinated by Ms Hannah Martin (Head of Year 10). These sessions play an important role in supporting our students’ health and wellbeing.
In celebration of National Science Week, we were delighted to welcome back several Frankston High School alumni to share their expertise and inspire the next generation of scientists. Students heard from:
Ajay Harikrishnan – Civil Engineer
Tu’uhevaha Kaitu’u-Lino – Deputy Head, Dept of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health (Mercy Hospital for Women) and research co-leader
Mark Simpson – Exercise Physiologist
Evatt Chirgwin – Ecologist & Ecotoxicologist
These sessions highlighted the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available in the sciences.
Finally, I would like to warmly welcome Mrs Kathleen Spaull to the Middle School Leadership Team as a new Year 10 Coordinator, and thank Mr Liam McDonald for his outstanding contribution to Year 10 leadership throughout Semester 1.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact our Middle School Leadership Team if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure every student feels supported and empowered to succeed.
