Foundation (Prep)

English

Over the past fortnight, students have been introduced to the following sounds: ch, v, x, y.

We have focused on articulation and connected the sound to the letter. We have also practised correct letter formation and practised reading and writing words and sentences containing these new sounds.

Students have also participated in reading groups where they completed puzzles, comprehension tasks and played literacy-based games.

Maths

We have covered multiple concepts over the past fortnight. Students practised recording numbers, recalling numbers out of sequence, counting forward and back from a given number and ordering numbers from smallest to largest.

We also discussed how to sort collections in different ways, e.g. by colour, shape or number. The students shared different items around their house that can be sorted and we talked about why people choose to sort items. Following on from this discussion, the class was asked to sort a collection of coloured blocks by colour and create a colour graph.

Book Week

A huge thank you to all of our families for supporting our Book Week parade. It was wonderful to see everyone embrace the spirit of the day and celebrate the wonderful characters we enjoy reading about in books.

We would also like to thank Ms Zanatta for organising the day, which involved all of the students rotating through a variety of activities facilitated by the teachers.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs Callaway
