100 Days of School Celebration!
We recently celebrated a major milestone – 100 Days of School – and what a fantastic day it was!
Students came dressed in all sorts of creative outfits, with some arriving as 100-year-olds and others wearing brilliantly decorated shirts featuring 100 items. It was wonderful to see so much imagination and enthusiasm on display!
Throughout the day, students took part in a range of themed activities. In Numeracy, they explored the number 100 through counting, grouping, and problem-solving challenges. There was also a delicious afternoon tea 100s and 1000s.
Our classrooms were buzzing with creativity as students took part in arts and crafts projects inspired by the number 100. It was a joyful and memorable way to reflect on how far we’ve come in just 100 days of learning, growing, and having fun together.
Thank you to all of the students and families for making the day so special!
Foundation/Year 6 Buddy Program Begins!
We are excited to have officially launched our Foundation/Year 6 Buddy Program this term! Each Foundation student has been paired with a Year 6 buddy, forming a special partnership that will continue throughout the year.
Our buddies will meet once a week to take part in a range of engaging activities designed to support both learning and our school values.
This week’s focus was on reading. Our Year 6 students selected and read a picture storybook to their Foundation buddy, while Foundation students proudly read their take-home readers in return. It was a beautiful moment of shared learning, with smiles, encouragement, and a sense of connection all around.
We look forward to watching these relationships grow and seeing the positive impact they’ll have on both our youngest and oldest students!
Middle School News
Literacy
Middle School students are continuing to enjoy learning about the fascinating world of Ancient Rome through exploring the lives of powerful figures such as Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. This fortnight we have been reading stories about Rome’s expansion from a small city to a vast empire that stretched across Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. Students are also learning to distinguish between historical facts and legends, such as separating the true achievements of Julius Caesar from the myths and dramatic stories that have been passed down over time.
Text Construction, students have been using Single Paragraph Outlines to plan and structure a paragraph about the legend of Romulus and Remus, as well as the historical figures Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. They have been challenging themselves to include coordinating conjunctions within their supporting details and to use an appositive phrase as their topic sentence.
Numeracy:
In Mathematics, students produced some fantastic mosaics during a recent Grapple Task, applying their understanding of tessellation in creative ways. They have also been practising a range of multiplication strategies to solve equations up to 10 × 10 with confidence. In Week 4, we will revisit telling the time on analogue and digital clocks, explore international and 24-hour time, and practise calculating elapsed time.
Reminders
Students should be reading for at least 20 minutes each night. When students read at home, please remind them to log it in their diary to receive a dojo point.
Please ensure iPads are charged overnight before bringing them to school each morning.
