Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
Updated Behaviour Matrix
Over the past few weeks staff and students have worked on refining our values behaviour matrix. Our behaviour matrix defines the expected behaviours of students at school. We developed our first matrix around 4 years ago and thus it was time for an update. Our staff initially spent time outlining the expected behaviours they wanted to see from students at school each day. I then worked with our curriculum and wellbeing student committees to get their feedback and ensure our new matrix made sense!
To make sure students understand the changes on the matrix teachers will spend time in personal learning sessions over the coming weeks to explicitly work through changes. At the end of each day 5 minutes will be dedicated to students giving acknowledgements related specifically to behaviours on our values matrix.
Here’s a copy of our new matrix. You might like to print it off, chat about it at dinner times, place it on the fridge or even on the back of the toilet door!
Parking
Unfortunately over the past two weeks there have been two separate incidents of staff cars receiving dints whilst parked on Sutherland Street. In both circumstances no details were left from the driver who has collided with the cars. If you did see either of these incidents occur can you please make contact with me.
These incidents do mean its a timely reminder about safe parking around school at pickup time. We know the changes to parking make this time of the day busy, but this isn’t an excuse for parking in No Standing areas or unsafe behaviour. Please continue to be patient and remember that arriving at the slightly later time of 3:25pm to collect children remains the best way to avoid the rush! We have staff on active supervision each and every day to support this and the handful of families who do this have the easiest pickup routine possible.
Loose Change Challenge
This month the Parents Club are running a loose change challenge across the school as they continue to fundraise for improvements around the school. Each class has a jar that coins can be deposited in at the start of the school day and the class that raises the most funds will receive a prize at the end of term. Thanks for your support of this fundraiser and we look forward to announcing total funds raised and our winner at the end of August!
