Foundation

In Foundation, we have learnt that God has created many beautiful things for us to enjoy - especially plants. We all planted an Impatiens seedling on Friday so we can watch them grow and turn into colourful, beautiful plants that help to make Sacred Heart look even better! We dug over the soil with a little rake, made a hole for the seedling to go into with our fingers, planted the seedling and then pressed the soil firmly around the seedling so it couldn't fall over. Then we watered them. These plants need only a tiny bit of sun, so that is why we've put them under the shade at the front of the school. Check them out sometime!

Then we wrote about our experience during Writing time:

We love swimming!!!!

We are having swimming lessons. What we did first was freestyle, then we floated on our backs. The last thing we did was collect a toy from in the water that the swimming teacher had thrown in the water. We are having so much fun.   Cody

In swimming, the 2/3 class practised swimming techniques. I was so excited to start the lessons. We did freestyle and torpedoes and other techniques too. We went by bus to the pool. Then we changed and we went into the pool for our lesson. When we finished, we dried ourselves and took off our bathers and put our school uniform on. After we went back on the bus and went back to school. I think swimming is really exciting and cool. Emma

We are learning freestyle in swimming. It was loads of fun. My swimming skills are leveled up! We were also playing games in the water. Some of the games were very hard.   Katalina

Swimming is fun. I love swimming. We did front rolls into the swimming pool and backstrokes and lots more. We even did the dolphin kick. Dolphin kick is where you can swim like a dolphin, mermaid or a whale. Swimming puts me in a good mood and I have fun learning to swim.   Chloe D.

I was excited to go to the swimming pool. I enjoy learning to swim. My teacher is Rose. We travel by bus to and from school. I am sad when we finish swimming.   Austin

I like to swim. It was fun swimming in the pool. The water smelt a little weird but I still loved swimming.   Olivia

When we did swimming, it was the best! The pool was warm. The teachers were nice and I think the instructions were easy to follow. The pool was very big and it could fit a lot of people in it. I was lucky that I was switched into my friends' group because I was a better swimmer.   Tristan

I like swimming and I think it's really fun. You get to learn new skills. I had a really great experience at the pool. I love swimming.   Laura

Yesterday was swimming at Northcote Pool. Our school was the first school to be there. We went on a bus to the pool. It was very exciting! The pool was very deep at one end and before we knew it, the swimming was over. It was a very fun time!   Arvin

On the first day of swimming, I was SUPER nervous but happy as well. I love swimming and I have done it before but I have never been to the Northcote Aquatic Center. When I first got into the pool, I smelt something which was chlorin. The water was so warm. When the lesson was over, I was super sad but I knew that we were all going to come back to the pool for the rest of the week.   Kushi

I was so excited to go swimming, even though I did not know how to swim. But it was still fun. And I was very surprised that the water was warm.   Georgia

I love swimming. We get to learn so much. I was so happy we were the first school to go to the swimming pool. We got to choose a partner for the bus. I was with Rene the swimming teacher. She showed us dolphin kick and breaststroke. I felt really elated and excited to go to the pool.   Eva

The 2/3  went swimming. We were excited and feeling great. The pool was big and blue. The Change room was clean. We had fun.   Ben

On Tuesday and Wednesday we went swimming. I love swimming so much. It's the best because I like the water. On the first day of swimming, it was exciting because we met our teachers for the first time. My teacher was really friendly and she taught us some amazing things like handstand and summersalt in the water which was cool. I could already do the handstand because I do it all the time at the local pool near my house. There are are two more days to go and I wish we could go for longer.   Chloe B.

It was really fun to go swimming and learn how to swim on our backs. We also learnt amazing tricks. It was very warm at the pool and all the students enjoyed it.   Christopher

Year 3/4  - Swimming Program

With our swimming teacher Paul, we learnt about survival strokes. He also showed us how to swim through rough water. If a person was struggling in the water, he discussed with us about getting a floating device such as pool noodles, kick board or a ball to help the person to float and encourage them to kick. My (Roman) favourite was the feet first gully - floating on your back, with just your toes and head out of the water and flapping your hands close to your body. My (Brenton) favourite activity was when I was doing survival backstroke and survival freestyle. Brenton & Roman

At swimming some people learnt how to do backstroke. At first we thought the pool would be super cold but it was super warm. My favourite activity was doing Sinkies, the teacher throws some toys in the water and we have to dive to find them. Tiffany

This week we went to Northcote  Swimming center for swimming lessons. All the teachers were SUPER ENERGETIC. We all had so much fun swimming. When we saw the pool for the first time, we were very excited. Swimming was so much fun we wished we could go again next week. Aleisha, Azariah & Jasmine.

The Swimming - It was a good time with our group and teacher. We splashed water everywhere. We also swim of course, our teacher teaches us lots of things such as the Torpedo and a Doggy Paddle. I felt happy and tired after the session. Stephanie

A favourite moment in Aleisha's trip to Canada.

🧋Bubble Tea in Canada🧋

Slurp, Slurp, Slurp went the people drinking their Bubble Tea, ‘’ Number 139, Please come and pick up your order,’’ said the Bubble Tea server at One Babo. IT WAS MY ORDER!!! I couldn’t wait to pick my Bubble tea up. I chose a Brown Sugar Milk Tea. I was with my favorite cousins, Sheerli Mache and Tina Machal. Once I got my Bubble Tea I could smell the delicious Tapioca Pearls, The Yummy sauce and even the bubble tea itself. When I had the first sip it was sooo good I couldn’t say anything, yes it was that good.  I had soo much fun because it was my first time ever going to One Babo in Canada.

Year 5/6

We have been using an application known as padlet to clarify our thinking and provide some reflective practice around two areas of our learning, the whole school performance and our serial reader, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Here's a few for your enjoyment!
